Designed by Luisa and Ico Parisi for MIM Roma in 1958, this executive desk from the Terni Series is a landmark of Italian mid-century design. The Parisis, celebrated for their architectural approach to furniture, brought remarkable precision and elegance to this piece — and MIM Roma, one of Italy's most respected manufacturers of the era, executed it to an exceptional standard.
The warm-grained African rosewood rectangular desktop floats above a sculptural X-shaped base, its open structure creating a sense of lightness despite the desk's commanding presence. Brushed aluminium details — on the drawers and as caps on the feet — add a refined industrial touch that runs consistently through the piece.
Storage is thoughtfully arranged : a double-sided extending drawer unit sits to the left, easily switched to the right if preferred, while two shallow drawers are discreetly integrated beneath the desktop. A truly unique collector piece, elegant and refined.
In flawless original condition, it bears the manufacturer's label on the inside of two drawers and on one of the legs.
