Eros side table designed by Angelo Mangiarotti for Skipper, Italy, 1970s, in richly veined black Marquina marble. A tapering cylindrical base carries a cantilevered top, joined through Mangiarotti's gravity-fit system, assembled without screws or adhesives. The biomorphic top is subtly pierced at its centre, creating a refined interplay of mass and void and demonstrating the structural strength of stone. Conceived as a side or occasional table, it is an icon of Italian modernism, combining architectural discipline with sculptural elegance.
